“Grandpa, is it going to be alright?”
Ruan Shu raised the drooping little vine, looking as if all its energy had been drained, and brought it to her grandfather, asking with concern.
“It’ll be fine,” Ruan He said after examining it. “It’s just out of energy. I’ll go get some nutrients for it.”
Ruan Shu nodded, tucked the little vine back into her embrace, and bent down to pick up the blackberries scattered on the ground.
These blackberries were incredibly fresh, so she took a small one and took a bite.
The fruit was packed with energy, and its flavor and texture were unaffected.
So delicious!
With a blissful expression, Ruan Shu enjoyed the fruit. The little vine treated her so well; how could she possibly repay it?
But it seemed the little vine didn’t enjoy the same food they ate, nor did it like staying in the soil, which left her puzzled on how to care for it.
Seeing the kitchen filled with so many blackberries only made her more troubled.
Even if her family ate them every day, they wouldn’t finish them in a short time.
She took a picture of the blackberries, which almost filled up the entire kitchen, and sent it to Almer.
Ruan Shu: It produced so many berries, and we can’t finish them all. Where are you? I’ll send some over to you.
At the end, she also sent a cute cat emoji.
She felt a bit embarrassed, though; after all, that was her star beast form. Would Almer think she was too self-absorbed?
Ruan Shu’s cheeks flushed at the thought.
Almer, surprised upon receiving her message, understood that the “it” Ruan Shu referred to was the mutated blackberry vine that followed her around.
But…was it really time for that thing to bear fruit?
And in such abnormal quantities, no less.
Just as he was contemplating this, his little good-luck charm sent him another voice message.
Ruan Shu: “The blackberry vine has blossomed and fruited three times now, and it’s out of energy. There’s so much fruit—I’ll send you some, but don’t tell it, okay? It’ll get mad.”
Ruan Shu knew now that the little vine held grudges. Anything with Almer’s scent it wanted to throw far away. If it weren’t for the fact that it couldn’t win against him, every time Almer showed up, it would likely try to throw him as far as possible.
Almer chuckled softly and replied.
Almer: Got it. Our little lucky charm must be really charming to have even a mutated plant bearing fruit for you.
Seeing his message, Ruan Shu’s face flushed a bit. She…she really didn’t know why this was happening.
When she saw the address Almer sent over, Ruan Shu immediately went to pack up the berries.
But looking at the little vine, seemingly in a deep sleep in her arms, she felt a little guilty.
Better pack it up quickly while it doesn’t know.
Once the order was placed, a specialized smart robot came to pick up the package.
Ruan Shu had packed an enormous box.
When Ruan He saw it, he couldn’t help but raise an eyebrow. “Who are you sending this to?”
Ruan Shu responded in a small voice, “Almer.”
Ruan He: “…”
He felt a pang of heartbreak!
His precious granddaughter had ultimately been lured away by the cunning Emperor’s attention.
“Grandpa, why don’t you ask the grandpas and grandmas in the group chat if they’d like some too?”
Ruan He snorted, muttering curses at Almer in his heart.
When he asked in the group, it turned out that many people wanted some. Especially after hearing that Shushu was the one gifting them, not a single person in the group stayed silent.
Old Xiao: “So many people! How much does Shushu have to give out? Let’s reduce the number a bit.”
Old Liu: “As an old man, I have to accept Shushu’s gift. The younger ones can sit this one out.”
Sister Min: “Oh, so Shushu is giving out mutated fruit? Well, for those of you with old teeth that can’t handle it, maybe sit this one out.”
There were only around fifty people in the group, and the blackberry vine had a high yield, producing about 100 to 200 berries each time it bore fruit.
Even after sending some to Almer, there would be enough for everyone in the group to have two berries each.
So, after checking with Ruan Shu, Ruan He made a generous declaration in the group.
Ruan He: “No need for anyone to fight over it; there’s enough for everyone, though just two each.”
This news set off a storm among the grandpas and grandmas in the group.
Old Wu: “This must take so much of Shushu’s mutated fruit! I can’t agree to this!”
Old Liu: “Exactly, tell Shushu there’s no need to trouble herself. Just give a few as raffle prizes.”
Sister Min: “That’s the best idea. Fair for everyone.”
Old Xiao: “Ruan He, you’re not considering Shushu at all! You call yourself her grandfather? You’re unfit for the job. Let’s trade—I’ll send you my two grandsons, and you let Shushu be my granddaughter.”
Old Liu: “I’m in too!”
Ruan He: “You wish! Dream on!”
He knew these old folks had ulterior motives. His dear granddaughter was so close to him, and he was sure these people were green with envy!
After clearing the kitchen of blackberries, Ruan Shu continued preparing snacks to send to her elder brother.
Blackberry juice, blackberry cake, blackberry cookies…
All blackberry-based treats—she simply had an overabundance of them now.
The blackberry products, whether juice or jam, had a beautiful deep purple color.
Once everything was ready, Ruan Shu and her grandfather set off together to deliver it to her elder brother’s company.
As soon as she arrived at the company, a picture of Ruan Shu, carrying a small basket and following her grandfather into the elevator, quickly circulated through various company group chats, big and small.
Meanwhile, in the top-floor conference room, Ruan Fengsi was raging like a furious tyrant, his words venomous and laced with anger as he reprimanded his subordinates.
Everyone kept their heads down like quails, not daring to make a sound as he barked orders with a voice that held the force of an entire army.
“President… Boss,” the assistant braved himself and stepped inside.
Ruan Fengsi shot him a dark, deadly look, resembling a mob boss ready to kill.
“Speak!”
His anger was fueled by a recent loss of several billion, caused by the team’s mistakes. That amount of money could have bought Shushu an entire amusement park!
“Miss is here! She’s already in the elevator and should be reaching your office soon,” the assistant said, his words spilling out in a rush.
In the blink of an eye, a gust of wind blew past him, and Ruan Fengsi was gone.
The assistant looked around, bewildered. “Where did he go?”
Ruan Fengsi had left without so much as a word to the people in the conference room—he needed to see his sister to cool down.
As he left, the tension in the room dissipated, and people began to relax. Some even stepped forward to shake the assistant’s hand.
“Assistant Li, you saved our lives.”
“Oh my God, the boss’s anger was terrifying.”
“Wouldn’t you be mad if you lost billions?”
“It was all the fault of that Sun guy! And that traitor!”
“This is a lesson learned, but I still feel so angry. If I get my hands on that traitor, I’ll beat the life out of him!”
“Thank goodness Miss showed up.”
“She’s our savior. The president in his wrath is just too frightening, especially with the oppressive aura from his high-ranking star-beast bloodline. I’m drenched in sweat.”
“Same here; my legs are weak, and I can barely stand.”
With that, they all silently sent a prayer of thanks to Miss Ruan Shu.
Thank you, Miss, for saving our lives!
Thank you for the chapter ♥️♥️
