Rebirth in the Interstellar Meow Meow Meow 216

The Little Kumquats Are Ripe

Hmm, now it’s confirmed—her ability to cultivate mutant plants does seem to be her awakened talent.

No matter how much she wracked her brains, Ruan Shu couldn’t figure out when or how she awakened this talent.

So, she searched for information online using the keyword “talent awakening” and found quite a few articles and forum posts.

The material briefly explained that people who awaken talents usually have Jingshen levels between SS and SSS—super impressive geniuses, essentially. However, there’s no age limit for when these abilities might awaken.

The general consensus is that the younger one awakens, the more talented they are. For instance, the current Emperor, Almer, awakened his fire talent as soon as he hatched. One sneeze nearly singed his father’s hair.

There was also an introduction to the current classifications of talents.

The most recognized and powerful elements include gold, wood, water, fire, earth, wind, lightning, and ice, along with spatial abilities, time manipulation, and anti-gravity.

Then there are auxiliary skills, like enhanced vision, smell, and hearing, along with talents associated with specific racial traits.

For example, some mice might awaken the space pocket ability. The most famous are the spatial mice, large creatures that resemble oversized hamsters with powerful front teeth, bigger than most cats.

Then there are beautiful foxes, like the mother of Ruan Shu’s current body, who was a member of the Enchanting Fox Clan. They are likely to awaken charm-related abilities, while bird clans might awaken vocal-based powers, giving them the ability to influence through song.

After reading about several prominent talents, Ruan Shu’s gaze fell on wood element skills.

This talent, controlling the growth of plants, is the one closest to mutant plants.

The strongest lineage for this ability is the Li family, a noble family with the bloodline of the White Deer. They control 70% of the potions market and excel at cultivating mutant plants, bonding deeply with them from childhood. Ultimately, these plants become their battle companions.

Ruan Shu looked at the small vine on her wrist. Was it the same as hers? It seemed a little different.

She found a lot of information about the Li family, but beyond the stories of a few renowned geniuses, there wasn’t much else.

Maybe she’d ask her father another day.

She opened a new forum thread.

#Question: Is it impossible to awaken a talent with a low mental Jingshen?#

The original poster explained in a lengthy post that their family has a hereditary talent. His father used to be the head of the family.

However, because his Jingshen is low, and his half-brother’s son has a high Jingshen with potential for talent awakening, the elders want to replace his father with his half-brother. P.S., the half-brother is an illegitimate child, the product of his grandfather and his mistress, with whom the family has always had a contentious relationship.

[Honestly, never heard of anyone with low Jingshen awakening a talent. Buddy, just wash up and go to sleep.]

[If you have low Jingshen, awakening a talent is less likely than going down together with your father’s illegitimate sibling.]

[If it’s that bad, maybe leave that family altogether. Doesn’t it just drain you emotionally?]

[In that case, I’d just insult everyone, walk out, and let fate decide if I survive.]

[How are you going to awaken a talent with low Jingshen? Just wait for a miracle, or if you don’t have the luck for one, you can either scrape by or go all out. It depends on how much you value your life.]

[Let’s not be so pessimistic. At least this guy has a dream. He’s asking because he knows the answer but wants comfort.]

[Comfort? Should we comfort him by suggesting he either go down together or leave with his family?]

[Don’t be so timid. Trust me, in situations like this, you should go all out. If you don’t fight him hard now, while he hasn’t awakened his talent, won’t it be too late to do anything if he awakens and tries to kill you?]

[Isn’t there a chance, though, that he might already be unbeatable?]

[Then forget it; just lie down and accept your fate.]

After reading these comments, Ruan Shu was left speechless: ………

It seemed that people in this world had a certain carefree, battle-hardened spirit—if they weren’t fighting, they were probably preparing for the next one.

Though she wasn’t sure if it was because she’d fully adapted to this world, Ruan Shu didn’t feel that any of this was particularly strange. She was mostly curious and somewhat amused.

Did the story have a continuation? Did he end up going down together with his rival?

Ruan Shu’s thoughts wandered briefly before she brought herself back to focus, continuing to look through other information.

In summary, people with low Jingshen couldn’t awaken talents, and no one had ever possessed her particular talent.

The Li family, known for controlling the wood element, would carefully select seeds of potential mutant plants and nurture them from the start.

After reading all this, Ruan Shu was left with one thought: so, she wasn’t a weakling after all—she was actually a little genius!

The shift in identity was so drastic it left her feeling a bit unaccustomed.

But after a moment of daze, she calmed herself. Little Genius Shu was humble and low-key. Besides, she was still trying to lay low, so no pride, no boasting allowed!

Ruan Shu yawned, hugging her little kumquat tree close. She rubbed against her pillow and drifted off to sleep.

The following day, Ruan Shu’s little kumquats had ripened.

The small kumquats, just a tad smaller than ping-pong balls, had a gorgeous color. From a distance, they looked like tiny lanterns hanging from the little tree.

Ruan Shu gently touched the kumquat tree and said, “I’m going to pick the fruits now.”

The tree gave a soft rustle, as if responding to her.

“One, two, three…” Ruan Shu carefully plucked each kumquat, counting as she went.

“Thirty-three, thirty-four, thirty-five…”

After picking the last one, she murmured in her sweet voice to the kumquat tree, “This time, you produced thirty-five kumquats! That’s so many more than last time—you did amazing!”

The kumquat tree gave a joyful shake of its branches.

Ruan Shu tried feeding it a bit of her energy again, though there wasn’t much left—just a tiny bit, barely enough.

Her talent’s energy was so small, so weak.

But the kumquat tree was thrilled nonetheless.

“All right, now stay here and bask in the sun. I’m off to share these with Dad and the others.”

With a large basket filled with kumquats, Ruan Shu, in her slippers, happily clattered out of the room.

“Dad, the little kumquats are ripe!”

Her soft, childlike voice carried downstairs. Ruan Shu lifted her small basket with both hands and looked down to see a stranger had arrived.

The stranger looked up at her, and Ruan Shu quickly pulled her head back, then realized that might seem rude. She obediently walked downstairs and politely greeted the person.

“Hello.”
