Rebirth in the Interstellar Meow Meow Meow 262

The Skill of Balancing

In the world of star beasts, the strong rule, and it’s not just empty talk.

Strong star beasts naturally exert a suppressive aura over the weaker ones.

Even though they’re just kindergarten teachers, these teachers are actually outstanding in every respect.

A weak teacher wouldn’t be able to keep these little troublemakers in check at all.

So, being a kindergarten teacher is a well-paid job; if someone isn’t excellent in every way, they wouldn’t make it as a teacher.

The runaway cubs calmed down once again.

Then, under the imposing shadow of a huge grizzly, each one obediently started their test.

But… it was a cacophony of wails and complaints.

Dora howled loudly, but it was all emotion without any real acting skill.

She kept howling without shedding a single tear.

Watching this, Ruan Shu couldn’t help but be amused and a little worried. Once Dora finished her test, she quickly went over, trying to help her stand up properly.

Dora complained, “How could there be such a devilish test? I’m a huge elephant, my bones are so solid—how could I be expected to be flexible?!”

“The teacher was too harsh, pushing and pushing until I couldn’t even feel my own legs!”

Ruan Shu discreetly took out a candy and handed it to her.

“It’s sweet. You’re so kind, Shushu.”

Ruan Shu smiled gently, “Does it still hurt?”

Dora nodded, “Yes, it hurts. The P.E. teacher is simply a demon.”

But you were quite cheerful when doing the other activities earlier, weren’t you?

Ruan Shu led her over to sit by the side, and on her other side, a large black-and-white panda sat down.

The panda, Xiong Yuanyuan, was staring at the wrapper in her hand.

“Do you want one too?”

As she asked, Ruan Shu was already reaching into her coat pocket.

She only had five candies in total, and now she was down to four.

Ruan Shu deftly unwrapped one and tossed it into Xiong Yuanyuan’s mouth.

When the other classmates came over, she ate one herself and gave the remaining two to her classmates.

“Shushu, you’re so pitiful, with only a little bit of strength.”

“Don’t be sad; from now on, we’ll protect you. You’re one of us, and no one can bully you!”

Ruan Shu tilted her head slightly. “I’m not sad at all.”

Her eyes curved as she smiled, soft and sweet, with a warmth that lifted everyone’s spirits, brightening the mood around her.

“My dad and my brothers are all very strong. They’ll protect me, too.”

And even though she was weak in battle, she was still a healing-type little kitty.

But, of course, this wasn’t something she could tell her classmates.

“Shushu, your smile is so beautiful.”

“So what do you usually do at home?”

Ruan Shu replied, “I like to draw.”

“Wow… You actually know how to draw! None of us can.”

“Shushu, can you draw something for me?”

Ruan Shu nodded, “Sure, when we get back to the classroom, I’ll draw for you.”

“Do you guys like little cakes or cookies? I’ll bring some tomorrow for us to share.”

Dora exclaimed, “I love cake so much!”

For once, the group of cubs sat quietly on the side, chatting without causing any trouble.

The P.E. teacher glanced over a few times.

Seeing that most of the cubs in that class were huddled around the new student, the teacher couldn’t help but be intrigued.

How rare was it for them to be this quiet?

When the P.E. class ended, and during the break, everyone played outside.

Ruan Shu wasn’t very good at running or jumping activities, but she sat quietly on a bench nearby, holding a small notebook and pencil, occasionally looking up to watch her classmates play before sketching something.

When the bell rang, her classmates gathered around her to go back to the classroom together.

The following classes were all culture subjects, though hardly any of the cubs paid close attention.

Ruan Shu, however, listened intently in class and continued drawing in her notebook during the breaks.

At one point, Narnia turned around, and with a surprised shout, said, “Ruan Shu, you drew Xiong Yuanyuan!”

Indeed, on her little notebook, Ruan Shu had drawn a chubby, Q-version black-and-white panda. Xiong Yuanyuan was sprawled on a desk, holding a piece of bamboo in her paw, with a little drool at the corner of her mouth, looking both silly and adorable.

“What about me, what about me? Did you draw me, too? Ruan Shu, you draw so well.”

Hearing this, Dora leaned over as well.

“Ruan Shu, why did you draw Xiong Yuanyuan and not me? I’m the one who’s closest to you.”

Even among cubs, there was a bit of friendly rivalry!

But Ruan Shu wasn’t troubled by this at all. She turned to a previous page, tore it out, and handed it to Dora.

“This one is you, Dora.”

It was also a Q-version drawing, this time of an elephant. Ruan Shu had carefully observed them before she started drawing.

Dora’s elephant ears had a small notch somehow, and she was covered in a layer of tawny fur, with the tip of her tail having a little black tuft. Ruan Shu captured all these tiny details in her drawing.

The moment Dora saw it, she recognized herself immediately.

Overjoyed, she held up the picture and kissed it.

“Ruan Shu, you’re amazing! Tomorrow, I’ll bring you my mom’s homemade apple pie—it’s the best apple pie ever!”

Narnia eagerly leaned in, too.

“What about mine, what about mine?”

Ruan Shu’s soft, gentle voice reassured him, “Narnia, your feathers are so beautiful. I don’t have enough colored pens right now, but I’ll use prettier colors when I get them at home and draw you in your best look. Is that okay for tomorrow?”

Perhaps it was the result of frequently soothing her occasionally jealous brothers, grandpa, and even the competitive mutated plants at home. Somehow, Ruan Shu had developed a knack for balancing everyone’s needs.

Combined with her soft and harmless demeanor and her gentle, soothing voice, she could calm even the most impatient ones.

Hearing her explanation, not only did Narnia feel unbothered, but he also felt especially valued, making him even happier.

“Alright then, you promised to draw me tomorrow.”

Ruan Shu nodded, “Of course.”

“We want drawings too!”

The other cubs gathered around. Partly, they thought the drawings were pretty, and partly, they had their own little competitive streaks.

If one cub got something, they all wanted it too, sometimes even fighting over it.

“Everyone will get one, but I only have one pair of hands, so I want to make each of you look your best. I’ll have to draw slowly.”

“Well then, after you draw Narnia, draw me next!”

“Why should you go next? Draw me!”

See? The competitive cubs were already arguing over the order.

Ruan Shu suggested, “How about we play a game? Let’s let the game decide who I draw next. Does that sound good?”

The cubs immediately got excited at the mention of a game.

“Alright! I’m the strongest—I’ll definitely win!”

“My teeth are sharp!”

“My claws are powerful.”

“I’ve got spikes!”

While they were bickering, Ruan Shu quickly folded a few pieces of paper into a neat little paper cup, then cut additional sheets into strips of equal width and length. She wrote numbers on them and rolled each strip into a small scroll before putting them into the paper cup.

Now, it was all down to luck!
