Just as Ruan Shu wobbled up to her feet, her dad’s head nudged over gently, giving her a little push.
The Ragdoll cat mewed adorably, snuggling and nuzzling like a sticky little rice cake.
Eventually, she scrambled up her dad’s broad arm and, with a final boost from his head, perched herself comfortably atop.
Standing proudly on her dad’s head, her soft white fur rippled like gentle waves in the breeze.
The golden sunlight poured over them, casting a warm glow on the big and little cat alike.
She lay there on her dad’s head, her tail swaying contentedly, while her tiny paws kneaded and massaged, purring softly.
Although her strength wasn’t much, she enjoyed doing it.
The father and daughter strolled across the lawn in the sunset, forming a breathtaking silhouette from afar.
The setting sun stretched their shadows, and soft, tender meows drifted occasionally through the air.
…
Although Ruan Shu seemed fine, her dad and brothers were still worried about her, so they took turns staying home with her for a week.
But Ruan Shu felt genuinely okay, even a little guilty for disrupting her dad and brothers’ work.
So, today, she offered to go with her big brother to his company.
“I’ll go to big brother’s company with him. Dad, you go take care of your work. Shushu really is okay now.”
These past few days had been the happiest she could remember.
After all she’d been through, she had long craved love, and now, surrounded by people who cared for her so deeply, she no longer worried about keeping her heart’s secret hidden.
“Dad, thank you.”
Ruan Shu hugged her dad’s neck, nuzzling him affectionately, her voice as soft and warm as ever.
Ruan Xiao’s lips curved up, and he gently patted her head.
“You’re my daughter.” So, there was no need to thank him.
When this typically stoic man smiled, though a bit stiff, he looked noticeably softer.
But every time Ruan Fengsi saw this side of him, it made his scalp tingle, and he couldn’t help but wonder if his dad’s brain was malfunctioning.
He soon had no reason to doubt it, though.
Because the instant his dad turned to look at him, he reverted to his usual self.
The speed of that expression change was remarkable.
Ruan Fengsi gazed at his dad blankly. Alright, so it turns out they just didn’t deserve that gentleness!
When Ruan Xiao handed his daughter over to his son, he instructed him coldly, “Don’t scare her.”
Ruan Fengsi wanted to retort, ‘Like I need you to tell me that?’
But he could only argue with anyone and everyone at the company. No one dared to cross him there, but if he messed with his dad, his old man would bury him six feet under.
Ruan Fengsi drooped his brows, looking much like a large Tibetan mastiff that had just been scolded—ready to snap at anyone yet feeling secretly wronged.
Ruan Xiao indeed had a lot to deal with, so he soon left.
“Come on, we’re not going to the company today.”
Ruan Shu looked at her big brother in confusion. “Then where are we going?”
“I’m taking you out to have some fun.”
One of Ruan Fengsi’s hobbies was thrill-seeking extreme sports. Often, when he wasn’t working, he was out indulging in these activities. Over the years, the company had not only survived but thrived to become an industry leader, thanks entirely to his sharp business acumen and keen insight.
Having stayed put since his return, he’d been itching to get out. Bringing the little one along for some adventure sounded like a good idea.
He settled her into a cozy spot in the hovercar, then sat in the back with her while it activated the self-driving mode.
Snuggled into her cushy nook with a custom-made cat plushie, Ruan Shu stole a glance at her big brother.
“Big Brother, did the butler grandpa put these here for you?”
Ruan Fengsi cleared his throat awkwardly, his gaze flitting around a bit nervously. “Yes.”
The truth was, he’d secretly arranged for these things to be custom-made himself.
He suddenly realized these soft pink items didn’t look so bad after all. In fact, they were strangely adorable—especially the plush cat that bore an uncanny resemblance to his sister’s star-beast form.
“This one looks just like Shushu.”
Ruan Shu found the plush toy so endearing that she changed herself into her own Ragdoll form to match, staring wide-eyed at the plush cat.
The toy was squishy and soft, so Ruan Shu pawed at it a bit before curling up on top of it with a satisfied purr, her beautiful tail swaying contentedly.
Ruan Fengsi couldn’t help but watch her tail for a while before he finally reached out to hold it still. “Stop moving around.”
The cat gave him an innocent look, her tail twitching slightly in his hand.
Ruan Fengsi gave her tail a gentle squeeze before letting go.
With her soft, fluffy fur, she was irresistibly cuddly—he just wanted to scoop her up and pet her.
He snapped a photo of her, with the real and fake furballs snuggled together in the pale pink, plush nook, then sent it to a small group chat.
Ruan Fengsi: [Photo]
Ruan Fengsi: She’s doing very well right now.
This group was new, consisting of just the three Ruan family members and Ruan Shu’s therapist, Shen Yu.
The primary purpose of the group chat was to update others on Ruan Shu’s well-being in real-time, but Ruan Fengsi was clearly using it as a chance to show off, rubbing it in everyone’s faces.
That said, the sight of two ethereal, soft, and adorably cuddly cats lying together was undeniably heartwarming, a comforting sight that made everyone’s heart melt. In any case, the group members secretly saved the photo without admitting it.
As Ruan Shu’s therapist, Shen Yu, still felt obliged to comment.
Shen Yu: She’s improving steadily. It would be beneficial to start letting her interact more with people outside.
Ruan Fengsi: Noted.
He was about to introduce her to the outside world right then.
However, not wanting to overwhelm her and with limited time, Ruan Fengsi opted for something less intense than his usual adrenaline-pumping sports.
“Ever heard of wingsuit flying?” he asked, as he brought Ruan Shu to a high mountain location with a club set up for the activity.
“No,” Ruan Shu replied, holding his hand as they walked into the club. She felt a bit nervous but was also curious, her eyes wandering around to take everything in.
The place was bustling with people, both men and women, some of whom were carrying gear resembling wings on their backs.
Despite Ruan Fengsi’s imposing, don’t-mess-with-me aura, his appearance was striking enough to catch the attention of both men and women around them. One glance and they couldn’t help but think, Wow, he’s seriously handsome, with a rugged, intense appeal and an unmistakably powerful presence.
They had to take an elevator to reach the upper floors of the club. As Ruan Fengsi held Ruan Shu’s hand and stepped in, several others joined them.
Inside, he focused solely on his sister, ignoring the glances directed his way from others in the elevator. When a girl bravely tried to ask for his contact information, his response was blunt to the point of shockingly direct.
“My contact info? Do you think I just hand that out to strangers? Do I know you?”
One of the girls even tried sidling up closer to him, to which Ruan Fengsi pointed to a more spacious part of the elevator.
“Don’t crowd around me. There’s space over there—can’t you see? There’s no money on this side; are you all squeezing in to start a fight?”
The girls around him were speechless.
Ugh, what a blockhead—he doesn’t deserve a girlfriend!
