Ruan Shu went to bed late due to a bit of excitement, which made her unable to get up in the morning.
When she was nudged awake, the little kitten rolled over, giving a soft, delicate meow. Her tiny paws covered her fluffy head and ears, as if reluctant to face the outside world.
Ruan Xiao simply picked up the little one.
“Are you going to school today?”
The kitten’s ears twitched, and she struggled to open her eyes, yawning with tears brimming.
But, being naturally obedient and well-behaved, skipping school due to oversleeping was out of the question.
So, the kitten rubbed her face and gave her father a soft meow.
She had to go, and she wanted Daddy to take her to school today. She was determined to be extra well-behaved.
Yawning, Ruan Shu nuzzled her father’s fingers, then went to get dressed and wash up.
Today, she wore another little dress her dad had bought for her. After washing her face and brushing her teeth, she looked all fresh and soft, a little ball of adorableness.
Her delicate, mochi-like appearance made people want to give her a little squeeze. Her hair was sticking up in random places, but it didn’t affect her cuteness one bit.
When Ruan Xiao came to find her, the little one was earnestly battling her hair.
Her arms were too short to hold the hairbrush high enough to style her hair, and holding them up for too long made them ache.
Normally, her hair was tied in a low ponytail or left loose, or sometimes the butler grandpa would do her hair for her.
Since she was going to school today, she wanted to tie it up in a high ponytail to look more energetic.
But after several attempts, she still hadn’t managed it.
“Breakfast is ready.”
Ruan Xiao walked over and picked up his beautiful daughter.
Ruan Shu clutched her small hairbrush and murmured, “Daddy, I haven’t finished doing my hair yet.”
Ruan Xiao glanced at her soft, snow-white hair. “It’s okay. I’ll do it.”
At this moment, Marshal Ruan, adept with weapons in both hands, was unaware that some things could be even harder for him than wielding weapons.
The father and daughter sat together—one on a tall chair, the other on a low stool.
Ruan Xiao took the tiny hairbrush in his large hand and began combing his daughter’s hair with great focus.
Then…
He stared in silence at the strands that kept slipping through his fingers.
“Daddy, maybe I should do it myself.”
Every now and then, her scalp would hurt from the tugging.
But Shushu didn’t say anything. This was her dad’s first time doing her hair. As long as he didn’t accidentally pull all her hair out, she could endure it.
But when Ruan Xiao noticed the two strands he had pulled out from her hair, he decided he couldn’t do it anymore.
He, a dignified marshal, was now completely defeated by a little head of hair.
Shushu’s hair was so soft in his hands that he didn’t dare to use any strength. Yet, even so, a few strands had still been pulled out.
Ruan Xiao had to admit—this was one thing he truly couldn’t manage.
“Dad, what are you doing? Why isn’t Shushu’s hair done yet?”
Ruan Fengsi looked at him skeptically, noticing the strands of Shushu’s hair in his dad’s hand and suddenly burst into laughter.
“No way, Dad, you can’t even handle a little bit of hair?”
Could it be? Was this still his all-powerful father? Unable to comb hair, of all things… Hahaha.
Ruan Xiao gave a cold smile. “You do it, then.”
Ruan Fengsi raised an eyebrow, still chuckling as he confidently walked over and plopped down in the chair.
“It’s just hair; how hard can it be?”
Ruan Xiao stood beside him, expressionless, his voice chilly with an undertone of threat. “If Shushu loses a single strand, you’re done.”
Ruan Fengsi confidently lifted his chin. “That could never hap—”
Before he finished his sentence, there was a soft “ouch” from Shushu, and two strands of her hair were pulled out by him.
The room went silent, and father and son locked eyes.
“Boom…”
In an instant, Shushu felt herself lifted into the air, spun around, and watched as her big brother, along with the chair, was sent flying.
Her cold, unfeeling father retracted his leg, calmly patting her small head.
“Let the butler handle it.”
Shushu, bewildered, let out a soft “Ah?” She looked up at her father, then over at her brother sprawled on the floor, and quietly closed her mouth.
Ruan Fengsi, lying on the ground, clenched his fists, his expression fierce.
Did he have no dignity at all? And besides, hadn’t Dad also pulled out several strands of Shushu’s hair? Shameless!
Neither father nor son had a clue how to do Shushu’s hair. In the end, the task fell to the ever-reliable, multitasking butler.
The two men stood seriously on the sidelines, watching intently.
Not only did the butler comb Shushu’s hair, but he also styled it into two small fishtail braids gathered at the back.
Father and son grew increasingly serious.
When Shushu stood there with her cute and ladylike braided bun, the two exchanged a look.
Ruan Xiao remained expressionless, his cold demeanor unchanged, though he lowered his gaze, as if deep in thought.
Ruan Fengsi furrowed his brows too, with a fierce look as if someone was about to face some serious consequences.
In the end, too curious to resist, Ruan Fengsi spoke up first.
“Dad, did you figure it out?”
Ruan Xiao didn’t respond. Instead, he held his beautifully dressed daughter and took her to breakfast.
Ruan Fengsi: I can tell—you’re just like me, haven’t learned it at all!
One of these days, he’d get the butler to teach him too. He couldn’t believe a little bit of hair could really be that hard to manage!
“Daddy, which class am I in?”
“Daddy, are you really going to pick me up after school?”
At that moment, Ruan Shu was filled with anticipation, nervousness, and a hint of unease.
These feelings mixed together, making her a bit jittery. Even though she kept her worry to herself, she almost wanted to bite her fingers again, but as soon as she lifted her hand, it was gently caught.
Ruan Xiao reassured her with a simple “Don’t be afraid.”
Though his tone seemed emotionless, those two words brought her considerable comfort.
Her soft, small hand gripped her father’s broad one tightly, as if drawing warmth and reassurance from him.
Ruan Fengsi, not knowing about Ruan Shu’s anxious state, clicked his tongue.
“What’s there to be afraid of about going to school? Just add Ruan Ling’an as a friend, and if anything happens, let him know. If Dad’s busy in the afternoon, I’ll pick you up.”
Ruan Shu’s mouth curved into a smile at her big brother’s words, and she nodded obediently.
After breakfast, Ruan Shu held her father’s hand as she looked at the soft cushion on the seat in his hovercar. There was no doubt—this was all the butler’s doing!
Ruan Fengsi caught a glimpse and instantly looked displeased.
“Who put all my stuff in here?”
Though those fluffy accessories had seemed a bit excessive, he’d gotten used to them. He’d never bothered to remove them all this time. So, who had moved his things into his dad’s car?
Ruan Fengsi’s tone was quite fierce, and Ruan Xiao shot him a glance as he settled Ruan Shu into her seat.
In the child’s seat, there was a cozy little cushion, a blanket, and everything she could need.
The interior of Marshal Ruan’s typically stark, minimalist car was gradually transforming into something lively and child-friendly.
The moment Ruan Shu sat down, she was enveloped in the soft, fluffy texture. She relaxed instantly, cuddling the little blanket as her nervousness melted away.
