The chaotic scene was filled with screams as Zou Gaoming writhed in excruciating pain from the flames, rolling several times on the ground before finally roaring, “Put out the fire, and I’ll fix your car!”
Su Su stood her ground. “Fix the car first, then I’ll put out the fire.”
Zou Gaoming glared at her viciously.
Su Su remained indifferent. “I can get another car, but you only have one life. Think carefully.”
If the stalemate continued, the one to die first would undoubtedly be him.
A man under a roof has no choice but to bow his head.
Gritting his teeth fiercely, Zou Gaoming had no choice but to activate his ability once again.
The scattered car parts began to reassemble automatically. Perhaps eager to extinguish the fire, the speed of reassembly was unusually fast. Before long, the off-road vehicle had returned to its original state, even looking newer than before—some scratches on the metal parts had completely vanished!
“N-Now, y-you can put out the fire, right?” Zou Gaoming gasped sharply, squeezing out the words one by one.
“I need to check first to see if it’s completely intact.”
Su Su spoke coldly and ruthlessly. She then signaled Xiao Hei to continue keeping an eye on Zou Gaoming while she herself got into the off-road vehicle to inspect its functionality.
Only after confirming that everything was as good as new did she step out.
At this moment, Zou Gaoming’s entire body was red and swollen from burns, his eyes nearly blazing with fury.
Su Su, however, remained calm and unhurried as she asked, “How many people are in Hot Spring Village? How many of them are ability users?”
Realizing that the woman before him had no intention of letting him go so easily, Zou Gaoming tried to be cunning. “There aren’t many people left in our village, and as for ability users… just a few of us.”
That statement sounded incredibly fake.
Yet, Su Su seemed to believe it. “Let us into the village, and I’ll let you go completely.”
“Alright!”
Zou Gaoming agreed without hesitation. He could no longer endure the flames on his body. If he delayed any longer, he would be roasted alive!
Su Su glanced at Xiao Hei, and the latter obediently withdrew his ability.
The blue flames dissipated, leaving behind a stark-naked Zou Gaoming lying on the cement ground.
His once relatively muscular body was now covered in burns. Only… Su Su took a brief glance and found it utterly unsightly.
Zou Gaoming scrambled to his feet in embarrassment, snatching two pieces of clothing from others and hurriedly putting them on.
Fortunately—thankfully—he had used his ability to protect his crucial parts in advance, only losing some hair. The most important place remained intact.
Watching his subordinates still frantically fleeing, Zou Gaoming’s face darkened. “I’ve already agreed to your terms. Shouldn’t you tell your teammates to stop now?”
“Can Can, Le Rui, stop for now.”
Pang Cancan and Le Rui obediently withdrew their attacks, leaving behind three or four ability users on the ground, convulsing and foaming at the mouth from poisonous insect bites.
Zou Gaoming suppressed his anger. “They…”
“Don’t worry, my babies didn’t go for the kill.” Pang Cancan smirked provocatively. “If you want to blame someone, blame them for being too weak. They got poisoned so easily. Just let them lie at home for a few days, and they’ll be fine.”
Since the apocalypse began, Zou Gaoming had been in control of this resort, robbing countless survivors who either passed by or came seeking refuge. This was the first time he had ever suffered such a loss at the hands of two women.
He forced a stiff smile and said, “I really must thank this lady for showing mercy.”
Though he spoke politely on the surface, he cast a few vicious glares at the three or four ability users still lying on the ground.
Useless trash.
“Let’s go. I’ll take you into the village.”
Zou Gaoming turned and walked ahead, looking as if he had wholeheartedly submitted, willingly leading these even stronger ability users into his village.
Pang Cancan leaned in close to Su Su. “Sister Su Su, I have a bad feeling about this. He definitely isn’t this kind-hearted. Could he be planning to lure us in and kill us once we’re inside?”
Just as she said this, they caught sight of the vehicle ahead.
The woman and child inside were already gone, leaving only the driver’s corpse slumped in the driver’s seat, left unattended for the time being.
Pang Cancan muttered, “…This looks even more like a gang of ruthless bandits who kill without blinking.”
It had only been a little over six months since the apocalypse began, yet this group had already entrenched themselves in the hot spring resort. Judging by their behavior, they were long accustomed to harming others.
Su Su agreed with Pang Cancan’s assessment—Zou Gaoming was definitely harboring ulterior motives.
However, they needed to enter this hot spring resort, and she also wanted to understand the differences between this life and her previous one.
With that in mind, Su Su gestured subtly to Pang Cancan.
Neither of them spoke, and at that moment, Zou Gaoming turned his head mockingly and sneered, “Scared? If you’re scared, then get lost already. Freezing to death on the road would serve you right!”
Pang Cancan scoffed, “Who’s scared?”
She glanced at the ability users present—one at Tier 3, three at Tier 2, and the rest at Tier 1. A formidable group, but nowhere near the level of dominating a region.
If this was the full strength of the ability users in Hot Spring Village, she was confident they could enter and leave unscathed.
Pang Cancan deliberately clenched her fists, forcing out a menacing grin. “Between zombies and ability users, I’ve killed at least a hundred. If you dare try anything funny, my babies won’t just poison you unconscious—they’ll bite you to death first, then crawl into your ears and noses to eat your brains!”
Having just suffered terribly, no one dared doubt her words.
These two women, along with a little kid and a rare giant python—strangely enough—were all far stronger than ability users of the same tier. Especially that fire-breathing python, which had instantly burned their leader, Brother Zou, down to nothing but his underwear. Despite being of the same tier, he had no chance to fight back.
A few of them supported their unconscious comrades while sneaking glances at Brother Zou.
Walking at the front, Zou Gaoming subtly shot them a few looks.
As long-time teammates, they immediately understood his hidden message.
“The hot spring is halfway up the mountain. We’ll need to drive for another twenty minutes to get there,” Zou Gaoming said, walking toward two vehicles parked behind the sentry post. He stopped beside one. “Leaving your car at the foot of the mountain isn’t safe. You should drive it up as well.”
Su Su didn’t respond. Instead, she casually pointed at someone.
“You. Drive our car up.”
The person she pointed at instinctively looked at Zou Gaoming. “M-Me?”
Zou Gaoming remained silent.
Su Su’s gaze slowly shifted toward him. “To be safe, we’ll ride in your car.”
With this statement, she completely blocked any plans Zou Gaoming had in mind.
After a brief silence, he grinned. “Sure! What an honor to have beautiful women ride in my car!”
Noticing that his lackeys were too slow to react, Zou Gaoming kicked one of them. “What are you standing around for? Hurry up and drive the ladies’ car up the mountain!”
“Oh! Oh!”
The man hastily caught the car keys Su Su tossed over and climbed into the vehicle.
“Now you can relax, right?”
When Su Su looked back, she found Zou Gaoming already standing beside the car, holding open the passenger door with a welcoming gesture.
“Get in.”
Su Su and Pang Cancan exchanged a glance.
The latter took Le Rui’s hand. “Let’s go, we’ll get in first.”
The two smoothly took their seats in the back, leaving only Su Su and Zou Gaoming outside.
Oh, and a python.
Zou Gaoming raised an eyebrow. “Just you left.”
Su Su met his gaze, then lifted the heavy Xiao Hei in her arms, half her body leaning into the front passenger seat.
At that very moment!
A flicker of light flashed in Zou Gaoming’s eyes as he suddenly activated his ability.
A sheet of metal from the car roof’s edge abruptly detached, aiming straight for the woman’s spine!
At the same time, a hidden dagger inside the car shot toward the python’s vital spot—its seventh inch.
A person bending over to get into a car was at their most defenseless. As long as that piece of metal pierced the woman’s spinal cord and was twisted viciously, it would be a fatal blow, leaving her completely paralyzed!
Zou Gaoming had even shown some mercy.
Lust gave him courage—he wanted to keep this beauty alive. Even if she ended up bedridden, he could still enjoy her a few times.
As for that bizarre python, the sooner it died, the better.
In the blind spot of everyone’s vision, no one saw these two deadly attacks.
Just as Zou Gaoming’s sudden betrayal was about to succeed, a flicker of knowing expectation appeared in Su Su’s eyes.
Snap.
The python’s tail struck out with precision, sending the dagger flying.
As for the attack from behind, just as Xiao Hei lifted its head from Su Su’s shoulder, preparing to spit flames…
A sudden gust of wind swept in!
Clang!
The falling sheet of metal was suddenly swept away, crashing heavily onto the cement ground.
The unexpected crisis was resolved just like that.
Su Su, surprised, pulled herself back out of the car.
Who? Who had stepped in to help her?
Zou Gaoming, whose schemes had been thwarted one after another, was also enraged. He turned around sharply. “Who? Who did this?!”
Everyone’s gaze shifted toward the straight road ahead.
A familiar Land Rover was approaching.
Zou Gaoming’s expression changed drastically!
The lackey beside him was so terrified that his legs started trembling. “It’s over! Brother Wei and Brother Guan are back!”
