Rebirth in the Interstellar Meow Meow Meow 180

Then I’ll Hesitate a Bit

Ruan Qingran and his little cousin Ruan Shu stared at each other, one pair of big eyes meeting a smaller pair, unable to process what she meant right away.

After a pause, Ruan Qingran finally asked, “How did you ask?”

Ruan Shu replied, “I just asked it if it was the only consciousness in my mental sea, and it nodded.”

Ruan Qingran: “…”

Ruan Qingran: “!!!”

“Your Jingshen has its own awareness?”

Ruan Shu belatedly realized, “Wait, isn’t it supposed to?”

Ruan Qingran: Is it supposed to?

They both fell silent. Finally, Ruan Qingran placed his hands on her shoulders and pulled her into a hug.

“I need to take a look at your mental sea.”

This was too strange. He had to see it for himself to be sure.

Ruan Shu nodded without any resistance.

Ruan Qingran pinched her small nose. “Why are you so easy to fool? Don’t just let anyone see your mental sea because they ask!”

Ruan Shu looked up at him, her delicate face full of trust.

“Because you’re my brother. Shu isn’t silly; you and everyone are so, so kind to me.”

Ruan Qingran said, “Even so, you should at least hesitate a little.”

Ruan Shu rubbed her head against his hand.

“Alright, then I’ll hesitate.”

Ten seconds later.

“Alright, Brother, I’ve thought it over. If you want to see, go ahead.”

Ruan Qingran: “…”

Let’s just get down to business.

Ruan Shu, true to her word about trust, opened up her mental sea completely, allowing Ruan Qingran’s Jingshen to enter unhindered.

The space of her mental sea was absolutely pristine, cleaner than that of a newborn.

Although he already knew, actually “seeing” it was a different experience altogether.

Even his own Jingshen felt an unusual comfort within such a pure mental space.

Soon, he found the plump cloud that Ruan Shu had mentioned.

His little cousin’s description had been spot on—very plump, almost as if it were too heavy to stay afloat and might fall at any moment.

But, in such a large, fluffy cloud, he didn’t see the Jingshen she’d described.

He still didn’t find any other Jingshen within his little cousin’s mental sea.

The situation was truly bizarre.

In the end, he directed his Jingshen towards that plump cloud.

After searching for a while, he finally spotted a small, differently-colored tail poking out from the creamy white cloud.

Ruan Qingran paused, then controlled his Jingshen to peel back a portion of the cloud, fully revealing a small, round ball, blissfully napping inside.

The creamy-colored little ball looked exactly like the one Shu had drawn, complete with a small tail that wagged as it slept comfortably, blissfully unaware that its “blanket” had been lifted.

Ruan Qingran couldn’t help but use his Jingshen to give the little plump ball a gentle poke.

It was a risky move because the collision of Jingshen forces usually carried tremendous destructive potential.

However, looking at this chubby little ball, he didn’t feel a hint of aggression; likewise, the soft mental sphere didn’t emit even a trace of danger.

His little cousin’s gentle personality was one thing, but even her Jingshen was… soft?

And there was only this one overly plump mental force present—a truly unprecedented case.

Throughout the universe, she wasn’t the only one with F-level Jingshen; he’d encountered others before.

Even with low levels, Jingshen in their seas usually consisted of at least thirty mental force threads, all of which were somewhat aggressive.

It was like a herbivore—no matter how weak and harmless it seemed, even a herbivore had teeth and claws for defense.

But with Shu’s Jingshen… was it even truly Jingshen?

Ruan Qingran couldn’t help but start doubting.

Yet it was indeed located within her mental sea, and perhaps because it had a unique energy, it was so different?

This was a difficult problem, as no other case in the universe matched Ruan Shu’s situation. He had no reference points.

Ruan Qingran gently tucked the “blanket” back over the plump little ball and left.

Entering someone else’s mental sea was already risky and intrusive; he wouldn’t stay too long.

After he left, Ruan Shu noticed his absence and looked at her brother with wide eyes.

Ruan Qingran ruffled her little head.

“Your Jingshen is incredibly unique. It’s never been seen before. I’ll go back and look into this to figure out what’s going on.”

He asked her, “Do you feel any discomfort, like headaches or anything like that?”

Ruan Shu shook her head. “Only a bit tired after treating Grandpa; other than that, nothing at all.”

That was a normal effect of using up Jingshen.

The uniqueness of Ruan Shu’s Jingshen might be connected to her special ability.

Since the appearance of X pollutants, this was the first case of someone with Jingshen capable of healing. Ruan Qingran didn’t dare disclose it; he could only search and research materials on his own.

After Brother Qingran left, Ruan Shu went back to her activities. She had already made two cute little kitty figurines!

Fengxin Group…

Ruan Fengsi now left work as soon as his shift ended, which everyone had grown used to by now.

“President Ruan, there’s a package for you.”

Just as he was about to leave, someone called out to him.

Glancing at the package, Ruan Fengsi confirmed it was indeed his, so he took it and tossed it onto the car seat, taking it home.

When he got out of the car, he grabbed the package from the passenger seat.

“Did Ruan Xinglan send this?”

He opened the package while walking toward the Marshal’s mansion.

Inside was a letter, the handwriting neat and precise—clearly from his younger brother.

“Ruan Fengsi, are you out of your mind? What sister? I don’t have a sister. Who cares about such nonsense, and that trashy thing you mentioned, ha… You really want such cheap garbage? Here, take it back.”

Ruan Fengsi had been wary, half expecting his younger brother to sneak some kind of weapon into the package—like a small bomb or something.

But when he read that dismissive line about “cheap garbage,” he couldn’t hold back his annoyance.

That was a peace charm Shu had woven by hand! If he didn’t want it, fine, but he’d rather give it to a dog than that brat!

He opened the box, which he assumed held the peace charm, but instead, an urgent beeping sound started up.

“Ruan Xinglan, you idiot!” Ruan Fengsi cursed, quickly tossing the object into an open area and diving for cover.

“Boom…”

The sound of an explosion echoed, shaking the entire estate.

Ruan Shu, who had been napping, woke up with a start, utterly shocked.

With wide, confused eyes, she looked around. Wha… what just happened?

Without even putting on her slippers, Ruan Shu ran outside, barefoot.

“Grandpa Butler, are… are we at war again?”

The sound had reminded her of a bomb, and now she was filled with anxiety.

The butler reassured her, “No, Miss, that was just an accident. The empire’s defense shields are strong, so it must have just been an issue. Please stay here; I’ll go check.”
